Cover Wars: Yasmin le Bon by Robert Harper for Playing Fashion April 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Yasmin le Bon by Robert Harper Do you love those eyebrows or do you love those eyebrows? I love covers like this because they really pull you in with barely any effort at all. Magazine ad space is sold on the strength of its cover, so it's no surprise that editors work so hard to create visuals that are so compelling and arresting. It's simple, but effective.

Cover Wars: Jessie J by David Roemer for Marie Claire UK

Image
via fashion gone rogue Jessie J has been out of the limelight for a while, but I'm glad to see her back. She recently shaved her head in support of a friend with cancer, and it's growing back in beautifully. Very Anne Hathaway. Girl is giving so much face, and this is one of the first times I haven't hated how that dress has been photographed. I'm obviously going to have to track down a copy of this issue.

Cover Wars: Charlotte Free by Max Abadian for Flare Magazine

Image
via fashion gone rogue Charlotte Free by Max Abadian Loving this bright March cover. Between the blues of the cover and the pinks of her hair, this cover is eye-catching and interesting. I'd definitely look twice if I saw it on a newsstand.

Cover Wars: Lena Dunham for Entertainment Weekly Magazine

Image
via Entertainment Weekly Lena Dunham by Ruven Afanador Before we get to Beyoncé, (and we WILL get to Beyoné) can we take  minute to talk about how glamorous Lena Dunham looks on the latest issues of EW? All problematic things aside, and there are many, Lena is definitely having her moment, and this "saucy Twiggy" look is really working for her. I didn't love her new haircut at first, but obviously all she needs is a good stylist, because I'm loving it now. She looks amazing. There's a lot to take issue with when it comes to Lena and her craft, but I think in the end, she's doing more good than bad, so I can forgive the slip-ups, even if I have to keep an eye on them. Good going girl!

Cover Wars: Clair Danes by Chris Nicolls for Flare Magazine

Image
via fashion gone rogue Claire Danes by Chris Nicolls I think we can all agree that Claire looks radiant on this cover, so onto more important things: DID YOU SEE THE HOMELAND FINALE?!?!?!?!? I won't spoil it, but if you're a fan of the show an Danes'epic cry-face, you're in for a treat! And oh yea, gorgeous cover girl!

Cover Wars: Gwen Stefani by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue US

Image
via fashion gone rogue Gwen Stefani by Annie Leiibovitz It's hump day people. Let's get through it together by looking at pretty things! Everything about this cover is perfection. Gwen Stefani has long been a fashion darling, and she looks stunning in this St. Laurent look from Hedi Slimane's 2013 collection.  I'm always down for a good pussy bow.

Cover Wars: Crystal Renn by Gregory Harris for 10 Magazine

Image
via fashion gone rogue Crystal Renn by Gregory Harris Now, that's a striking cover. Can you honestly say you wouldn't look twice if you saw this on  newsstand?

Cover Wars: Joan Smalls for Dazed & Confused

Cover Wars: Miley Cyrus by Tesh for Marie Claire September 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Miley Cyrus by Tesh for Marie Claire Teen bride Miley Cyrus is on the cover of Marie Claire's September issue, and I'm actually really excited about it. You might not like her music or her movies, but Miley photographs beautifully, and I love seeing her in editorials. These were obviously taken before she debuted her new haircut , (which I love by the way!) but she still looks amazing. I can't wait to get this issue, and see the full editorial. This cover works for me. Miley looks great (despite her eternal baby pout), from her hair to her makeup to her styling. I'm not really sure why she's relevant right now (movies, album?) but I don't mind having her around so to speak. And can we talk about that manicure? Loving it. What do you think about Miley as a covergirl? Will you be buying MC's September issue?

Cover Wars: Lady Gaga by Mert and Marcus for Vogue Magazine September 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Lady Gaga by Mert and Marcus for Vogue Magazine September 2012 Now, I love Lady Gaga, and I love Mert & Marcus, but nothing about this cover works for me. From the weird banner in the masthead to that hair (eew...), I just can't. I do love this dress, and Gaga is WERQing it, but as a whole, I hate this cover. The full editorial is actually gorgeous however (duh, M&M ), but if I saw this on the newsstand I wouldn't buy it. I mean, I would, because well, September/VOGUE, but in a regular month, not so much. I think it's just poor photo selection. What do you think? Do you like this Gaga cover? Will you be buying this year's September issue?

Cover Wars: Zenia Sevastyanova Smolders in Giles for Dazed & Confused’s July 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Zenia Sevastyanova Smolders by Kacper Kasprzyk One last cover to round out Tuesday's lineup.  Everything about this cover is perfect to me. From the bow-tie to the boots to the shag cut to the burn holes, it just scream fa-shun to me. Lame I know.  I've always thought that the less commercial mags tend to have more interesting visual covers. I love D&C and Numéro covers because they're always so much less about appealing to passers-by, and more about pulling in dedicated fashion readers and lovers. They create covers that someone who appreciates fashion can be drawn into and love. I love me some Marie Claire and Elle, but Numéro, Candy, D&C, Paper? Covers are way better. They're collectibles I tell you. :) What do you think? Which magazines produce your favourite covers? Do you prefer commercial covers, or more artistic ones like this?

Cover Wars: Karlie Kloss and Joan Small by Steven Miesel for W Magazine

Image
Joan Smalls by Steven Meisel via fashiongonerogue Karlie Kloss by Steven Meisel via fashiongonerogue Fashion face-off! Two of my favourite models are covering W this month and I couldn't be happier. Also, I really miss my W subscription... Joan and Karlie look stunning (and oddly similar) on their respective covers and I think we can all agree that they're gorgeous women. My love for Karlie is not a secret, but I find myself gravitating towards Joan's cover more. There's something about the depth in her eyes and the cut of her cheeks that pulls me in. I think it's a win for Joan on this one. What about you? Which cover do you prefer and why? Are you a big Joan or Karlie fan? Let me know in the comments below.

Cover Wars: Emma Stone by Mario Testino for Vogue

Image
via fashion gone rogue Emma Stone by Mario Testino Favourite funny girl Emma Stone is this month's issue of Vogue. I've been a fan of Emma ever since Easy A (which was on Starz the other day actually) and I'm so glad that she's hitting the big time. She looks gorgeous  on the cover and she really draws you in with her big gorgeous eyes.  It's also refreshing to see a comedienne on the cover of Vogue. I think the last time that happened was Tina Fey's March issue a few years back. What do you think of Emma's cover? Are you a fan of her movies? Who would you like to see on Vogue's cover next?

Cover Wars: Noomi Rapace by Sølve Sundsbø for Dazed & Confused June 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Noomi Rapace by Sølve Sundsbø Lady Noomi has been growing on me recently. She's an incredible actress, and stunning beauty, and she has this... .thing that makes her positively enchanting. I love this cover, and I can't wait to see her new movie!

Cover Wars: Victoria Beckham by Camilla Akrans for Harper’s Bazaar UK May 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Victoria Beckham by Camilla Akrans When is there not a time that Posh is bringing it full force? This is why she is my sytle icon...

Cover Wars: Lara Stone by Cuneyt Akeroglu for Vogue Turkey April 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Lara Stone by Cuneyt Akeroglu LOVE. I love Lara Stone, and I feel like I haven't seen much of her lately. This cover works for me on so many levels. The close up works so well. It's direct, and it draws you right in. Perfection. What do you think? Does this cover work for you?

Cover Wars: Aymeline Valade by Sofia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello for Numéro #132 April 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Aymeline Valade by Sofia Sanchez & Mauro Mongiello As usual, Número never disappoints. I love teh colour treatment, and the drama. I'd stop to check this out on a newsstand!

Cover Wars: Anouck Lepere by Satoshi Saikusa for S Moda

Image
via fashion gone rogue Anouck Lepere by Satoshi Saikusa Another awesome cover. I recently went on a floor tour of the Teen Vogue offices, and a big part of each issue's cover is deciding on the colour scheme. I think the colours for this cover work really well. Nothing competes too heavily and it all complements each other. It's visually pleasing.

Cover Wars: Melissa Tammerijn by Txema Yeste for Tush #27

Image
via fashion gone rogue Melissa Tammerijn by Txema Yeste I love etheral covers like this. Commercial fashion rags are always so aggressive, so it's a nice change when covers are a little more mellowed out.

Cover Wars: Josefien Rodermans by Nick Dorey & Jessica Miller by Amy Troost for Russh #45 April/May 2012

Image
