FBFF: Burn After Buying OR One-Time Wear Disease

Image
This week at FBFF, we're talking about One-Time Wear Disease. Sound scary? It's not, but it might be scaring your bank account. In the blogosphere, many style bloggers never seem to wear the same thing twice, and it's given them a bad rap. Today we're talking about our own habits with clothes, and how we get around the predictability of a static wardrobe. 1. Are you a one-time wearer? Ha! I wish! I can't afford to be a one time wearer, and even if I could, I don't think I'd want to be. When you find that perfect piece that flatters you and complements your wardrobe, you want to work it in as many times as you can. I love finding pieces that I know are versatile and can work with what's already in my closet. As you make you new purchases, you increase the number of fashionable combinations you can come up with. Why would you want to limit yourself to a specific season's haul? Not to mention, where would all the clothes you've worn GO  exactly? Not

Soundtrack Saturday: Covergirl by Rupaul Charles

Image
I realized yesterday that I haven't done a soundtrack saturday post for the new year yet! How I managed to go two months without getting to my all time favourite feature is beyond me, but it's back bitches! And with Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent , no less. In any case, here we go. March's first set is based on Rupaul's dance hit Covergirl from her  Champion ablum . In the last 3 days I have been overdosing on drag queens, and I have to say I LOVE IT! I can't get enough of Rupaul's Drage Race . I've watched 3 seasons in three days and all I want is a wig and a compact. That said, this song is seriously amazing. I heard it long before I started watching the show, and it's been in my itunes for a while now. It's and amazingly fun song, and it's so girls' night appropriate. Seriously, I dare you to not dance wildly while you listen. Every time I hear this song all I can do is tap my feet, jiggle my shoulders and bop my head. It's incr

via fashion gone rogue Brittany Hollis by Jeff Tse I'd love to do some more work with a makeup artist. When it comes to fashion portraiture, the makeup is almost as important as the photograph if not more important logistically. MUA's do all the heavy lifting so that photographers's jobs get a little bit easier I think.

Shot by Uncle Karl and featuring two of my favourite models, I'm loving this month's offering. What about you? Do you have a favourite cover this month? Portrait Session: Portia Ross

Image
via PLola Portia Ross by Cate Young I LOVED shooting Portia. Do you ever have those moments where you see something and you just HAVE to have it? That's what I felt like when saw Portia across a room one day after a class. She was sitting with a mutual friend of ours, and I absolutely fell in love with her style and her look. So, like the creeper I am, I looked her up on facebook, got her email address and shot her a quick email asking her to sit for me. (Privacy settings y'all! Check'em) Anyway, because she's awesome she didn't run away screaming and we met up on Friday for a quick session.  It's so refreshing as a photographer to find a subject who just knows . Not a lot of people are fully aware of their body, and it's one of the reasons why modeling is so hard. You have to be aware of every inch of yourself, and be able to manipulate it in pieces. Contrary to popular belief, it's a real skill. Needless to say, shooting with Portia was
