In With the New: Starting 2013 with a Fresh Face and a New Attitude

Image
Karlie Kloss by Patrick Demarchelier via fashion gone rogue I wanted to start this piece by writing something super profound about new beginnings for the new year and whatnot, but I'm not feeling very profound today. I'm actually feeling very ill and mildly feverish, and I can't breathe because I've had the flu for over a week. But  YOU KNOW...  these things happen.  But on a serious note, I love new years. I love the symbolism of new beginnings, and new opportunities. 2012 was a difficult but  ultimately rewarding year  for me. I learned a lot about myself and what I'm capable of, and I can't wait to implement those lessons in 2013. I have a lot that I want to accomplish this year. I'll be turning 23, crossing the one year mark post graduation, and continuing to make strides at my first "real" job, and doing more freelance and multimedia work. There are a lot of amazing things in store for me this year. I can feel it in my bones. And I'm ver...

Cover Wars: Gwen Stefani by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue US

Image
via fashion gone rogue Gwen Stefani by Annie Leiibovitz It's hump day people. Let's get through it together by looking at pretty things! Everything about this cover is perfection. Gwen Stefani has long been a fashion darling, and she looks stunning in this St. Laurent look from Hedi Slimane's 2013 collection.  I'm always down for a good pussy bow.

Editorial: Kendall Jenner for Miss Vogue

Image
via  Miss Vogue The internet spent a good portion of last weekend buzzing about these new shots of Kendall Jenner for Miss Vogue, and with good reason! These shots are amazing, and Kendall looks completely at home styled to the nines and posing like a total pro. Girl can give FACE! Say what you like about the Kardashian clan, but they are a genetically blessed bunch. Kendall gets the best of Kris and Bruce with that that gorgeous face and that leggy physique. She hits all the model checkpoints and I honestly think that she could have had an amazing high fashion career without the Kardashian name. Kendall is gorgeous, and I hope she pursues her modelling career. Can't wait to see more from her. Continue Reading My Brilliance! >>>

Cover Wars: Lady Gaga by Mert and Marcus for Vogue Magazine September 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Lady Gaga by Mert and Marcus for Vogue Magazine September 2012 Now, I love Lady Gaga, and I love Mert & Marcus, but nothing about this cover works for me. From the weird banner in the masthead to that hair (eew...), I just can't. I do love this dress, and Gaga is WERQing it, but as a whole, I hate this cover. The full editorial is actually gorgeous however (duh, M&M ), but if I saw this on the newsstand I wouldn't buy it. I mean, I would, because well, September/VOGUE, but in a regular month, not so much. I think it's just poor photo selection. What do you think? Do you like this Gaga cover? Will you be buying this year's September issue?

Cover Wars: Emma Stone by Mario Testino for Vogue

Image
via fashion gone rogue Emma Stone by Mario Testino Favourite funny girl Emma Stone is this month's issue of Vogue. I've been a fan of Emma ever since Easy A (which was on Starz the other day actually) and I'm so glad that she's hitting the big time. She looks gorgeous  on the cover and she really draws you in with her big gorgeous eyes.  It's also refreshing to see a comedienne on the cover of Vogue. I think the last time that happened was Tina Fey's March issue a few years back. What do you think of Emma's cover? Are you a fan of her movies? Who would you like to see on Vogue's cover next?

Cover Wars: Lara Stone by Cuneyt Akeroglu for Vogue Turkey April 2012

Image
via fashion gone rogue Lara Stone by Cuneyt Akeroglu LOVE. I love Lara Stone, and I feel like I haven't seen much of her lately. This cover works for me on so many levels. The close up works so well. It's direct, and it draws you right in. Perfection. What do you think? Does this cover work for you?

Cover Wars: Iris Strubegger by Peter Lindbergh for Vogue Germany April 2012

Editorial: Adele Atkins by Mert & Marcus for Vogue US March 2012

Image
via Vogue.com Adele by Mert & Marcus Va-voom! Adele is perfection in my eyes, and after her amazing sweep of the Grammys last night, and her rousing performance after months of recovery from throat surgery, everyone knows why. Now, her star will only continue to rise in 2012. This editorial shot by my personal favourite photographers M&M, is glorious, and really plays up her old school glam. I'm in love with it, and I can't wait to see her in even more shoots. Continue Reading My Brilliance! >>>

Cover Wars: Lana Del Rey by Mario Testino for Vogue UK

Image
via fashion gone rogue Lana Del Rey by Mario Testino After watching her perform on SNL, and forcing myself to sit and listen to her album, I still have no idea what Lana Del Rey is about. But I will say this: aside from her obviously enhanced lips, she's stunning, and I think she should give up music and just model full time. Her music and "image" don't really do anything for me, but she's beautiful, and I think she has a look that's almost literally tailor-made for high fashion. I think I read somewhere that she's actually signed to an agency. If she doesn't make it in music, I think she could have a very lucrative career in fashion.

Cover Wars: February Cover Girls

Because I've been slacking off, there are a tons of great covers backed up that I meant to post, so I'll just post them all. These are my favorites for February. Fairly simple, somewhat minimalist. Always fabulous.
