Changing Directions, Shifting Focus
I'm bored.
Like, SUPER bored.
I'm bored with my life. I'm bored with fashion and I'm bored with this blog.
I've been thinking about it a lot recently (hence the extended hiatus) and fashion blogging really is inherently stupid. I mean... what is the point? And this is more specifically about personal style bloggers, but HOW ARE YOU FAMOUS FOR DRESSING YOURSELF? No one pays me to get up and put on clothes...
When you step away from the situation and you get some perspective, you start realizing how frivolous fashion really is.There are simply more interesting things that I could be doing.
So, I'm going to start doing them.
One of the biggest frustrations that I've always had with this blog is that in my attempt to try to keep it focused on fashion photography, I've ended up severely limiting the scope of things that I post about. I love fashion and photography, but it's not all I love.
Anyone who knows me knows that I've got quite the mouth on me, and I always have a lot to say. I have an opinion on everything, because I think it's important to pay attention to the things that are going on around you and to consider them critically and intelligently. I'd like to think that I actively work to achieve both of these things.
But PLola doesn't reflect that. It doesn't reflect my taste in music, my views on social issues or politics or feminism or sexuality. It doesn't reflect my love of bad ABC Family movies, or iCarly, or really bad puns. And honestly, those things are a big part of my life. It seems silly, but this is a space that I've cultivated and I want it to be genuinely me. I want it to reflect all aspects my personality and I want it to be an accurate digital representation of me.
I'm excitable, and easily pleased and I want Rihanna to be my best friend, and I think that High School Musical is epic musical theatre. But you'd NEVER know that from this blog. So that's going to change. I've had this blog since freshman year, and now I'm graduating. It's an ideal time for a change.
I don't want this to be a lifestyle blog. I don't think anyone cares what I'm doing from day to day or what I'm eating or wearing. No one cares. NO ONE CARES. But I do want this space to better reflect ALL the things that interest and amuse me. So expect more really bad puns and political commentary. I'll still focus on fashion primarily, but be forewarned: I can a little raucous for some people's taste. It happens.
That is all.
